An I.Q. Test really doesn't depict on your age.... I personally don't believe in the IQ tests.. but 115 is right around average, if not just a tad bit above.. :)

Actually, the IQ score isn't affected by the age. It is like a percentage of smartness of how people your age should be off. For example, if you have the score of 100, that means that your IQ is the of the perfect standard as it should be. You would be considered as a genius if you have the IQ score of 150, which means that your IQ is one and a half times your age. IF you are a 20 years old with a 150 IQ, it means that you have the IQ of a 30 year old.

But there many tests nowadays, so, the result might not be 100% accurate.

100 is average for an iq test. Generally your age doesn't matter. A 5 year old iq test is different from a test an adult would take. The standard deviation should be 15. so a test score of 115 would be around top 20%, top 15% of the general population. But it really does boil down to what your definition of good is.

This is a table of the distribution of IQ scores in the world population. You fall into the top 25% approx, only 1 in 4 people have an IQ score at your level or above. 115 was the IQ score required for a place at a grammar school in UK (not many of them left now) when the 11+ exam was taken.
IQ Level
(Intervals) Description Population %
130 and above Very superior genius 2.2%
120-129 Superior 6.7%
110-119 High Average 16.1%
90 – 109 Average 50%
80 – 89 Low Average 16.1%
70 – 79 Borderline Retardation 6.7%
Below 70 Very Low 2.2%

It depends on the IT test.

Firstly it should be one localised to your country of origin or you may score lower than you would of. Also some types of IQ tests will give 100 as an average score and some will give higher as an average. 115 is at least average on IQ tests with a higher level and fairly good on IQ tests with a 100 average. It's impossible to say more without knowing which type of IQ test it is, but the ones with 100 as average are more common.

It is a popular misconception that IQ is age related - it is not. So a child of 7 or an adult of 77 could have the exact same Intelligence Quotient as you.
It is generally accepted that an IQ of 100 is classified as 'average' - so you are clearly above avarage. However Mensa demands that its members have an IQ of 140+ and they have lots of members!
You need to appreciate that IQ in itself is no indication of how a person develops their 'life chances' - remember the definition of Genius - 1% inspiration, 99% perspiration!!!!

This is good - you are above average.
IQ scores are balanced for age - people peak between the ages of about 15-35, then the IQ is adjusted to take that into account.
(you had to tell them your age before you took the test, right?)

100 is the average for all people, so anything above that can be considered "above average", though 115 is not something to write home about. it's a respectable score, if you even care about such a meaningless test of your capabilities.
