What I was wondering is what are some precautions that I should take before going and buying a snake? How much do pythons usually cost anyway?

Ok well a few things before you go buy a python think. do i really want a liftime friend. and thing thats going to get huge 10ft or so depending on type. And am i properly prepared for it? what kind of cage setup do you have? what kind of python or snke u want?

But a python usally runs around $100 for a common one and can go way up into the thousands if you get the rare morphs and stuff. so depending on what you want you can get them around 100 for a cheap one.

Snakes are tame for the most part so read some care sheets about getting one first. I mean it takes alot to care for it but in the long run they can become a great friend. i have 2 myseld a redtail boa and a corn and i love em both.

Please email me or IM me if you want any help i would love to talk about it and help.

hi there
cost on python around here range from $95+ depending on what type and where ... unless it's a Private sale..
if you want an easy to handle snake a ball python grows max 3-5 foot where anaconda's, burm's and reticulated can grow as much as 25+ and over 100lb's and can get aggressive specially during feeding time .. red tails boa's are the most docile of all the snakes but also grow large as well10+ there is also many boas that only 5-6 foot like the rainbow so on but the difference on pythons and boa's on biting u... pythons grab and hold on where most boa's just tag like a warning bite ...been biting by both kinds...never touch a snake that is in a shed they feel very varniable at these times ...just a warning...lol actually have many types of boa's and pythons and they all have their own personalities snakes are very cool.. if ur looking for a snake that is easy to handle i would stay with a boa or ball python..

Ball pythons are the way to go for a new handler. dont listen to all the garbage from corn snake owners. you will never feel the love or bond that you would with a ball. not only, but balls are much smarter. 1. they dont strike when threatened (unless threatened by dmging physically [abused] or VERY quick movements to the head)
2. Eat less
3. Are slow and only get about 5-6 feet long MAX
They range from 50-100 $ but are well worth it. T R U S T M E

I think pythons and boas are great snakes. Ball pythons would be the cheapest snake. 50-100 dollars around where I live. Bermese pythons get big but i have had a lot of them and they are great snakes also. Stay away from reticulated pythons. They grow very fast and are in most cases aggressive. You should consider a red tail boa, they are very pretty and very docile

Ball pythons are great starter snakes. Usually get about 4 1/2 -6 ft. Very hardy, easy to take care of. They run right around 75-100 bucks, that doesn't include any necessities. I would research it first before you jump into it though.
Have fun!

Before buying a snake you should read up on it to make sure you have the proper equipment to take care of it. It will need special housing, a way to regulate heat, an escape proof cage and you need to learn how to feed it mice and what size of mice to feed it, where to get them and teach the snake to eat prekilled, frozen and thawed to room temperature mice.
I suggest as a first snake you seriously consider a corn snake or a king snake rather than a tropical species. The smaller snakes are easier to handle, not quite as temperature sensitive and easier to feed and house. Plus you get the benefit of the larger snakes where everyone thinks you are insane for having one and if you go to the door with one on your neck it will scare away salesmen. They are also cheaper since the babies are around $50.00 to $70.00.
Enjoy your snake.

i heard that pythons see in infered and that they will bite their owner because of how they see. they are constrictors they will continue to squeeze till the prey stops breathing. so i would suggest that you get a ball python. they are normally gentle and they are relitivlly small compared to their larger relitives. you should also watch out for their teeth. you should NEVER pull out, it'll rip your hand off, so you should push your hand depper into the snake then you pull out because the snakes teeth are curved inward

Huraira, the odds of a constricter choking it's responsible owner to death are a nil. NIL. Please don't sling your uneducated, ignorant, fear generated opinions.

A Python can cost a couple hundred dollars or less, depending where you get it.
