He could, but if I were the woman, I wouldn't bet on it. It usually gets worse and a lot don't change. Usually by the time it gets to that point, you need to get out and get out now. Most anyone can change, but the person needs to choose to change. He needs to have someone help him whom he isn't beating. And sometimes the best way to give someone the kick in the pants to change, is to leave as a consequense to their actions. And not to come back ever.

no, let him get away with it and one day he will do it again. If he can't deal with his anger without being violent, you need to find someone that will. I have watched a woman go back and go back, and he hit's her again. Anger management can only do so much, take some time out to ask yourself what you really want from the realationship and best of luck.

"Earl" changed! He changed from being on top of the ground, to six feet under, according to the Dixie Chicks: (lyrics below - Sorry for the sick humor, but I have valid reasons for it, I just can't share them.)

GOODBYE EARL (Lyrics)
Mary Anne and Wanda were the best of friends
All through their high school days
Both members of the 4-H club
Both active in the FFA
After graduation Mary Anne went out lookin'
For a bright new world
Wanda looked all around this town
And all she found was Earl
Well it wasn’t two weeks
After she got married that
Wanda started gettin' abused
She put on dark glasses and long sleeved blouses
And make-up to cover a bruise
Well she finally got the nerve to file for divorce
She let the law take it from there
But Earl walked right through that restraining order
And put her in intensive care
Right away Mary Anne flew in from Atlanta
On a red eye midnight flight
She held Wanda’s hand as they
Worked out a plan
And it didn’t take long to decide
That Earl had to die
Goodbye Earl
Those black-eyed peas
They tasted all right to me Earl!
You’re feeling weak
Why don’t you lay down
And sleep Earl?
Ain't it dark
Wrapped up in that tarp Earl?
The cops came to bring Earl in
They searched the house
High and low
Then they tipped their hats
And said thank you ladies
If you hear from him let us know
Well the weeks went by and
Spring turned to summer
And summer faded into fall
And it turns out he was a missing person
Who nobody missed at all
So the girls bought some land
And a roadside stand
Out on highway 109
They sell Tennessee ham
And strawberry jam
And they don’t
Lose any sleep at night cause
Earl had to die
Goodbye Earl!
We need a break
Let’s go out to the lake Earl:
Well pack a lunch
And stuff you in the trunk Earl!
Well is that all right?
Good! Lets go for a ride
Earl hey!
(I came back in and edited this song - the mistakes were terrible! I think I found them all. Sorry for those who had to endure it).

Yes they will change just for a short period of time. But after that it gets worse. Men will say they will never do it again. Then it stops for a while. Eventually something is going to happen. Men of this nature wants total control over everything. If they don't get that, that sends a rage through them that causes them to be excessively violent. Please be careful because it don't take much to send men through this rage.

I personally don't think so. A leopard can't change his spots; a pedophile can't change his ways or urges, even with counseling; a cheater doesn't change his/her ways; an abuser doesn't change. That is just my philosophy and beliefs, tho some others do think that they can and do change. I have never seen them change in any of these situations.

After he spends time in jail he'll find other ways to vent his anger, but the woman will never change, she'll go on taking a beating and loving him the same.

NO. We are all built a certain way. If a man can do that. That's who he is. If a man couldn't dream of doing it. He never will. That's just how it is. My dad is a beater and he's been through so many counselors it's unreal. He's just that man.

Not without serious help.
This is probably, almost certainly not what you want to hear but:
Any person in a relationship (women And men) need to get out as quickly as possible, not telling the other were they are going.
Contact friends and family. A person who acts out violently can accidentally injure or kill, or even deliberately do so.
They need to get help, and they need to do so quickly.
Once you've gotten out - contact them and ask them to please get help... explain why you left...
If they get help, its possible they'll get better and everything will be ok...
I'm so very sorry...

Not without dealing with his innner conflict first. I believe people can change but often professional help is needed.
Anger is secondary emotion. It is never present with another feeling (hurt, embarassed, lack of control, fear, resentment etc...) Deal with the primary emotion and you can be rid of the anger.
