Is there peace in Somalia? Has there been an election or coup?
It seems as if, like some of it's neighbors is having a hard time.
I hope there is peace in Somalia

***According to this article the Ethopians and Eritreans are fighting their war inside Somalia:

There is no peace in Somalia. There has been no peace there for about 16 or 17 years. What are you talking about?
Somalia is the next Afghanistan. The Islamic Courts forces (i can't remember their official name) are the new Taliban.
In a few years, if things don't change, every Islamic fundamentalist will be heading there, just like they did in Afghanistan in the 1980's and look where that did.
In the beginning people welcomed the Taliban because they brought "stability" to thje Afghanistan. Some are doing the same with the Islamic Courts forces for the same reasons.
The world needs to wake up.
I hope the world realizes this before it's too late, even though i believe it is already too late.

OK guys, don't know where everybody's posting from, but remember, peace is a relative term. It means something different to someone in an office building in Chicago than it does to someone selling crops in Mogadishu.

To answer the question directly, US intelligence is only as good as it wants to be. There's no way we did enough homework on who to support (if anyone) in this conflict. We lack any real Africa policy, and this is what happens when no developed nation can say "hey, what you're doing isn't cool."

Probably there is element of mistrust. Rulers of Somalia must talk to world community and co-operate with United Nations. They have to adopt Democratic means to bring stability. Present rulers have done wonderful job but permanent stability is essential for world peace.
