Worst Christmas Gift -- my (now ex) emptied my bank accounts, purse, stole my Christmas Gifts, and served me with Divorce papers (after abusing the children) ... (That was also a GOOD thing -- I was HAPPY to give up everything to get out of that short disaster of a marriage).
Best Christmas Gift -- this year -- I just became an EMPTY-NESTING Single Retiree -- so MY HOME Is FULLY just for me! (Plus, after being a long-term single parent and forgotten at Christmastime -- this year, I finally allocated part of my income to purchase something for me -- a Brand New TV (the first thing in over a quarter of a century!).

I will never complain about socks or any other Christmas gift- my worst gift? - a note on the tree that said "santa doesn't being presents to sassy little girls" not kidding and nothing else. - Now I really hate to hear people whine about what they didn't get (or what they did )
My best :) - a proposal and engagement ring from the most wonderful man I have now been married to for 14 years! Can't top that :)

My husband left me that day!
Not sure that was my worst gift, maybe that was also my best! Tee,hee!
We have been friends, after that, don't know how. And there is no hard feelings.
Still, it was strange seeing the empty space where his car was, and knowing for sure what had happened.
And not sure about what surviving was gonna be like at first, from there. On a cold day, yet. Brrrr!
I remember thinking, this is a fine present! As I stared at that empty face at the end of the yard, with my gray hat on.

The best "gift" I've gotten during the holidays is the opportunity to spend time with loved ones. I know it sounds corny, but after having a few deaths in the family I have come to realize how precious family and friends really are.

In Junior year of HS i spent a lot of time and energy shopping between 34th and 42nd street of NYC (biggest shopping district). For a girl i hardly knew, i bought a $20-25 dollar stuffed blue bear....a care bear because i found out she liked them. Gave it to her before Xmas and had to wait until after the holidays to get my gift from her. And what was it? Stationary paper! Stationary paper. Sure it had bunnies and cute symbols but Stationary paper! I was sooooo mad! Lesson learned: Gift giving ain't great if its not mutual.

Worst gift: When I was six I actually got coal! I guess I was a little brat, my mom ended up letting me open my presents that night-but come on, I was 6!!!
Best gift: a snowboard-sweet, can't wait to use it!!!

I got a Santa Candle one year...then next year i gave it to that person as their gift.
