oh well, i will tell her/him, "baby I am so flattered to know that you want to be like me but i want you to be what GOD wants you to be.. Each one of us has it's own destiny. You have your own journey. Don't ever dare to do what I did that only made me cry but if that happens, I am here to guide and support you. You are accountable to your actions. if you failed, get up and face the consequences..."

Tell them that you love them and it was a nice thing to say, but also tell them you want them to grow into being their own person.
I mean, I don't understand the angle that you're coming from. Either you don't want your kid to be like you or you do, and you want to say something equally as nice back. I'm confused over this one.

That's not a lot to go on.
I think I would tell my child he/she is fine as he/she is already, and that he/she should do what makes him/her most happy and content with him/herself.
I mean, if your life is pretty much in order, and you would tell your kid it's okay to be like you.....what happens if he/she can't live up to that dream?

That is very nice but I would tell my child that its is very imporant that you be your own person and that there just can't be anyone like me that is what makes me so special because you have to be your own person. I guess I would like my children to be anything like me especially my teen years Good luck!!!

tell he/she that you want them to be better then you. You can also set a good example for your child.

As a lesbian it may be hard to have a child but I'd say - go for it - there's nothing wrong with it.

I'd tell them that I'm flattered but I hope they make better choices in life than me so they don't have to strugle the way I have.

That I'm very proud of him, that it makes me feel special, but that I also want him to think for himself, and learn to make decisions based on what he feels inside himself.
Being idolized is fine, but people have to still be able to think for themselves, even if they are our own children...
