I had my baby 5 months ago. I gained exactly 30 pounds and 20 fell off immediately after the birth. However, I cannot seem to lose the last 10 pounds. I don't know if it's because I'm still nursing or what.

I think that you keep extra pounds when you are nursing.

Don't worry about the weight. It took nine months to put it on, and your body has been through a lot.

Just eat healthy food, skip soda (especially diet as that causes the body to retain fluids and has junk chemicals that you don't want to feed your baby) and junk food.

The last 10 pounds will come off.

There really is not a set time, this would not constitute a should. It all depends on each individual person, their own metabolism, and their diet. Also, 50% of women produce a hormone that make them gain weight during pregnancy that does not "shut-off" after giving birth, a special vitamin is needed for this, though I do not remember what it is called, a doctor would be able to tell you. I have had six children, gained different amounts of weight with each, my last was born two years ago on the 21st, and I am STILL trying to lose the weight through diet and exercise. So it really depends on the person.

I have found that the baby weight will come off on the 12th of never. I had two girls and gained the right amount with each one, but all the weight didn't go. After dieting, exercise, starvation. You name it, I gave up and have learned to except the fact that I have extra skin around my middle that is contributing to the extra poundage and it's my mommy trophy. Not a very attractive one but it's there because of them. Enjoy your baby and enjoy being a mommy. What's ten pounds to a life of joy?

first of all join the club. I am having the same problem. I set a goal of 1 month after the birth of my son because that 1 month would turn into 1 year. I still have 10 lbs to go. You just need to set a time for yourself. Mine is by February. Its hard for me because I had an emergency c section and was not able to breast feed because of that. I got up to 79 lbs when pregnent and am now 48. I have lost 5 lbs in two weeks, with excercise. I am not willing to diet because I will never stick to it for ever but that is just me. So just set a goal time and weight.

Nursing should actually help with the weight loss. But you're pretty typical. Those last few pounds can be difficult. The best I can suggest is to up the activity level. Grab the stroller and go for a walk!

I think those last 10 pounds are the hardest to lose! You have to step up your exercise program to really get rid of it, or just get used to the fact that now that you've had a baby, your body will never be the same. I recommend Pilates, though. It really helped me lose not only the last 10 pounds after my second pregnancy, but helped tone my stomach. Good luck!

pick up a 5 or 10 pound weight at the gym and visualize that weight coming off holding the weight in your hands helps bring home just how heavy even 5 pounds of extra fat can be

Nursing does burn a lot of calories, but a very wise doctor told me- It took 9 months to put it on and will likely take 9 months to take it off again. Once your child starts getting into everything (around 9-10 months old) you will be exercising more than you thought possible!

Actually nursing usually makes you lose the weight even faster. I think just some daily exercise will help you!
