Well. I have Great Respect for Athiests no matter what ( Its not my place to convert them) but It's the same way. MY girlfriend is an athiest and my imediate family is as well (shes not implict or forcing about it tho). The whole reason Iam askin is that I want to understand why people want to cause harm to christians. I have no idea were you all live but posting up signs and and freedom of speach and delicate conversations is not what Iam talking about. Iam talking someone I totally dont know cussing the crap out of me for simply saying the word god ina conversation they are not included in and people rallying together in front of a walmart and throwing **** at people for having a religious symbol dangling from there rear view mirror. And why do they want to hurt people? I really do respect an athiests even if they dont condone what I believe in ( its the right thing to do christian or not) I have people coming to our doors like the mormons trying to get us to do those things

Bad people exist everywhere. There are bad christians, bad muslims, bad jews, bad atheists. Every religion and ethnic group and race and creed has bad people in it. And they're probably present in each group in roughly the same proportion. It's just how the world is. It sucks sure but it's how it is. You can't judge any groups of people by their bottom percentage. To do that would make you a bad *insert religion, belief system, ethnic group, etc etc here*.

All athiest are not the same. Just as all Christians are not the same. There are always those people who take it to the extream. There are Christians who try and push their religion onto those who don't believe in what they believe in. They can get rude and violent just as these athiest you talk of.
It's not really fair to address athiest as a whole. The better question is why do these certain people feel the need to attack beliefs that obviously doesn't concern them.

People have suffered at the hands of religious zealots for centuries and still are.
They also restrict and dominate others where they can,
(No contraception in third world countries for example)
They love power.
Listen carefully to your girl friend and your immediate family what they have to say.
I recommend that you read "God the Delusion" by Richard Hawkins.

This is too wordy to read all the way thru. But, I get your gist.

And, I (a religious person who is not a Christian) can easily see it from the other angle--------exchange your words of Atheists and Christians.

i'm not that kind of atheist. i am sometimes forceful with my opinions but i don't try forcing conversion. its the fundamentalists i have a problem with. i do not resort to physical action on violent terms anyway.
atheists like that give atheism a bad name.
