Two choices: Conversationally, one would say, "Hoy, Juan cumple anos" (Which is literally, Today, John completes years, though I haven't mastered how to type a tilde over the n in the last word. Translated literally, one would say, "Hoy es el cumpleanos de Juan" (You can choose whether or not to transliterate the name 'John' into 'Juan')
