The length of the line segment joining the two points is calculated as follows:

√[(7-1)^2 + (2-4)^2 + (6-(-3))^2]
=√[6^2 + (-2)^2 + 9^2] = √(36 + 4 + 81) = √(121) = 11

This is just the distance formula.
[(x1-x2)^2 + (y1-y2)^2 + (z1-z2)^2]^1/2
= [(1-7)^2 + (4-2)^2 + (-3-6)^2]^1/2
= [6^2 + 2^2 + (-9)^2]^1/2
= (36 + 4 + 81)^1/2
= (121)^1/2
= 11
