Thx in advance.

Ok, its been 15 hrs. ago, and I still can't beat the horrible Veggies. Built up, bought new weapons and gear, still killed off. Does anyone have a cheat? Ready to give up. Lvl is now 40.

Raise your characters' level to 39 or more by beating monsters outside of sochen cave palace or by hunting some marks or finishing some available sidequests (try venturing to Zertinans Cavern and beat Addrammelech to gain as an esper, or Go to Barheim Passage and beat Zalera to gain him as your personal esper)-> completing sidequest of gaining an optional Esper or two should raise your level adequately to beat the Mandragoras.

When the fight starts, immediately cast Dispel or Dispelga (if you have one - i doubt it though) on all Mandragoras as they have haste on them. Try to steal loots from them by equiping Thieff's cuffs (they possess cool stuffs).

Otherwise, Hold R2 button and run around until the mandragoras start to line up and chase you. Target the middle veggie and Unleash Quickening combos on him (Try to trigger concurrences -I manage to unleash 'Whiteout' spell -if you can get Blackhole, that's even better).

If that doesn't wipe them out, immediately cast Dispel on all of them who have Haste effect. and Fight them ONE by ONE.
Stay close to them as they always run around to heal.

The key is to fight them one by one. AVOID fighting all 5 of them at once. Their combined attack can surely hit you and your party HARD!

I have no problem killing the little creatures cause I got curious and decided to venture to Necrohol of Nabudis -WARNING! STRONG MONSTERS INSIDE- and manage to get the 'Zodiac' Spear.
That spear gives a whopping 2000 hp hits (depends on your level.. but that weapon is the strongest weapon in the game).
But, to get zodiac spear requires you to NOT tamper with 4 special treasure chests in the world- one next to Old Dalan Place, and the other three i forgot where.. consult gamefaqs.com. If you accidentally open even just one of them, then you won't b able to get the spear EVER.

---------------------------
ADDITIONAL:
Level 40 basically will put you in gear to beat the mandragoras.
Is there something that you do in your gambit that prevent your party to battle efficiently?
By this time, i believe you should have Curaga, and perhaps Curaja (i'm not sure of this one- i forgot). use that gambit instead of low level curative magick.

Do you have Addrammelech and Zalera already? Perhaps venturing and trying to get Chuchulain will help you get stronger.
Basically, the reason to asked you to get to level 39 is for you to b able to withstand their attack without getting killed by one hit.

Their level is supposed to be 37. So, perhaps you need to level up more (till 44 or somewhat higher)- The rules that i observe is usually you can beat monsters as long as you are 2 levels above them- some exception applies such as Chaos, etc. But, i always stay ahead about 6 levels to be safe.

Then, I really recommend you to go and complete sidequest of "Zodiac Spear."
Not only you will become super powerful as you finished the quest, you can also use the Strongest weapon in FFXII to chop the heck of those Mandragoras.
You should have an access to Necrohol of Nabudis from Salika Wood by now -the place where you found the optional boss Megabomb.

Good Luck!

Well what helped me was this: Make sure you have one healer, and ALL your chars are the same lvl for backups..k..switch your gambits to attack party leader's target only. a concentrated attack works best seeing as though the main goal of the veggies is to separate your party. mist knacks and summons don't work all that well in this battle, so don't bother ex spending your mp. If all else fails do some leveling up, or partake in some hunts until you are up to par. A better tactic can be found at my fav site I am sure
