Seems like the more I listen to it, the more I think it's a great album that could have gotten more applause if it didn't happen to follow their gem The Joshua Tree. What do you think?

Achtung Baby is one of the greatest albums of all time. When most bands have a successful album, they tend to churn out more of the same. U2 went in a totally different direction and made another classic, and changed rock music at the same time. Acrobat is one of my favorite songs. It really did get a lot of hype when it came out and the critics loved it, but nothing could come close to the Joshua Tree as far as popularity goes.

Actually, Achtung Baby did VERY good for U2! It sold as much, if not more, than 'The Joshua Tree'. I consider both to be the best U2 has to offer, IMHO.

Achtung Baby is awesome, by far the best album...how can someone not get excited listening to "the fly" or to "until the end of the world"!!! Love it

Hated that album.
They went techno on that album and abandoned what made them great.
When they finally went back to their roots, I came back to liking them again.
I saw them in concert in Chicago. They did 1 show only. The Pixies opened for them, and I thought the Pixies were better than U2.

I agree. It was definitely a solid album. Zooropa did was an unimpressive effort. Give me more Under a Blood Red Sky.

YES its good.
But nothing beats Joshua Tree and Unforgettable Fire
