what is the song "bad day" about? it says kicking up leaves, and the camera dont lie. wait what?

This is my own personal interpretation but I believe it to be about this guy who is singing a song to his girl who has had a bad day. In reference to "kicking up leaves and the magic is lost" I believe it to be semi-literal. If you've ever looked at leaves before and seen them come to life when you kick them it's beautiful. There's magic in every living thing. As far as "the camera don't lie" he's referring to her not being able to hide the depression she is feeling. They say "the eyes are the window to the soul." If you're miserable the camera is obviously going to capture that. It's really a wonderful song!
