Everyone in the world seems to love Facebook...I do not. >=(

Some of the reasons for my hatred of it are things like how you can't make it nice with music or backgrounds or anything even slightly attractive, and how you can't really keep a blog, and how there's like a million things going on at once on your main page and...well I could go on for hours but I'll stop there.

I find Myspace and MSN spaces (yes, there is such a thing as MSN spaces, and in fact out of Myspace, Facebook and MSN spaces, MSN spaces are by far the best [in my opinion]) are much better than Facebook, for the reasons I said above, plus a million more things.

Everyone says "Oh, Facebook's a great way to keep in touch blah blah blah" ...if I wanted to keep in touch with anyone I'd actually make an effort to do it...not just join a little internet site!

So is anyone else out there sick of Facebook or [better yet] never liked it to begin with? I feel like I'm the only one.

You know, they're really not trying to be the same thing. Myspace is like a giant hang-out spot where people represent themselves in every way, and make internet friends, and chat, and do all that stuff. Facebook is a networking site with only enough of that personal stuff to help people recognize and relate to each other.

You're right, you can't use facebook to make a pretty webpage with music and pictures. To me, this is a relief. Myspace has the annoying html of wannabe web designers all over the place. Myspace is also way slow. Sometimes it'll crash my internet browser because of all the stuff going on on the pages at once. It's messy and it's more pop culture than it is useful. I use myspace to send brief messages to people and it is useful because almost everyone has a page so you can get in touch with almost everyone, even if you don't have an email. I admit that my myspace page is very pretty and has music and everything, but see, that's what myspace is for. And I didn't try to do it myself. My text is readable, my background doesn't clash with the text, and the layout doesn't make people have to scroll for half a minute to read anything.

Frankly, facebook is nice becasue it is made for a certain group of people for a certain purpose. You use facebook to contact people you need to contact, inform large groups of students quickly and easily about what's happening, and so on. Facebook's message feature is practical and well-used; much nicer than myspace's, where so many people post so many stupid bulletins you can't sort out the important ones from the crap. Facebook also has less traffic and less mess, so it's easier and more professional of a website. I use facebook for practical things; I use myspace for fluff.

But you really can't hate on facebook because it's not myspace. It's not trying to be. It serves a different purpose.

I realize I kinda condemned myspace. I don't dislike myspace. I use it all the time for keeping in contact with my younger cousins and high school friends. It's just that for this question I was defending facebook, so I had to point out myspace's flaws.

i loved facebook back when it was only for college/high school students. now it's so commercial with the ads, and how anyone can know what you do on it. i actually like how it's much "cleaner" and doesn't have all the garbage that myspace has. i wish it could have music, but i don't like how on myspace some people always post comments with the gigantic glittering fonts. it's annoying.
