would they put you on jury duty 13 days before Christmas. I hate jury duty. 4 hours of sitting...Bring a book tune everyone out until you name is called...go downstairs get soemthing to eat at a one person table and go back upstairs...I was lucky I didn't get called last time...It was a murder committed by an illegal alien they gave him a lawyer and an interpreter? I mean he doesn't know he is in trouble for stabbing someone to death?...I guess this isn't really a question is it?

Not a question - so probably doesn't fit here, but I understand your frustration, and I sense some underlying anger as well.

Also understandable.

I wish you luck on getting out of jury duty tho',

I hope you feel better, venting is about the only thing you can do. I try to avoid courthouses as much as I can. It is the only place where you can be tried, convicted and jailed in one day having walked in without a care in the world. I do think judges have to much power.

Many places run Jury duty right up to the 22nd. Just be greatful that you don't have travel plans as having prepaid $1200 for non-refundable tickets isn't always enough to get you out of it.

To bad they do not accept volunteers, the court TV junkies would be all over it.

Be proud of Jury duty. Keep in mind that the idea behind a jury was the last check to a free country- the jury is the final judge of a law- even if obviously guilty, the Jury can still find somebody innocent if they find the law to be unfair. It's a constitutional check on the Government.

Be proud of jury duty. it's important for your country.

Why?

Because the criminal justice system is terribly backlogged. Jails are overflowing and criminals know that they can usually get a deal (plea bargaining) if they plead not guilty and head for trial.

They are eligible (most times) for a deal anytime before the jury reaches a verdict. These guys know how to manipulate the system for all its worth.

Yep...it sucks.

Merry Christmas!

It's your civic duty. You are part of our unbiased justice system. You should feel privileged you are able to perform this duty. you could live in a middle eastern country where women are second class citizens. Be proud and glad you get to perform jury duty!

Hang em'.

And remember, your taxes are paying for the illegal's lawyer and interpreter. And you can't pay your taxes if you're required to be his jury. You can't work, you're stuck at $40 a day which won't pay for your gas.

Hang em'.

they want you there an hour early so they can indoctrinate you as you know policemen and prosecutors don't lie they have no reason to lie do they,? just don't forget rampart in Los Angles where 1000s of peop;e were convicted illegally. or in Illinois where they executed 47men and later it was proven 35 of them were not guilty, and the prosecutor knew many of them were not guilty??a conviction gets another feather in the prosecutors cap for when he runs for a judge ship or congress or ??

well, I got out of it by saying I didn't believe in judging other people, and I didn't want to have that kind of dramatic effect on anyones life.
