I had the same concern when we purchased our new front loader. Our son was 9 months old so we figured we were safe to move to Tide HE. We were wrong. He had a terrible allergic reaction. We switched back to Dreft and used a smaller amount but were not happy with the results. An alternative we tried is Method HE compatible laundry detergent for baby. It comes in a pink container and from environmentally safe company in SanFrancisco.

Dreft High Efficiency

Yes. Just use less. Your washing machine manual has instructions about how much regular detergent (as opposed to HE detergent) you should use.

You didn't ask, but I'll throw in my $0.02 anyway: our large-capacity, high-efficiency washing machine was the best investment we could have made with little kids in the house. And because the clothes get cleaner and rinse better with less detergent of any kind, we decided we didn't need to use Dreft or any sort of baby detergent. We tried regular detergent once, monitored our baby's skin, and when nothing happened, we gave up the pricy baby detergent for good. If that makes you nervous, you can always do a second rinse and not feel bad about it, since the washer still uses so little water.

Yes, just yse a much smaller amount and check for suds after the rinse. If there are suds, you are using too much.

I have an HE front-loader and have always used All Free and Clear for everyone, including the babe.
