I recently started to tan in a "regular" tanning bed. It is doing it's job but very very slowly. I wanted to use my gradual tan lotion at the same time. I was told that it would make the tanning bed trips worthless. I don't really understand why. Sounds stupid and wrong, but I've been wrong once or twice in my life before. Anyone ever done this??

Do not use taning beds. You still are damaging your skin. Use those spray tanning places, quick, easy and it lasts a while!

Your friend may be confusing tanning lotion with SPF. Tanning lotions, aka self-tan lotions, turn your skin dark but DON'T protect from the sun. Lotions with SPF do protect from the sun, but mean that it will take longer to tan.
My advice? Skip the tanning beds and go with the lotion. The lotion always works, whereas tanning beds won't work if you don't usually tan in the sun, or if you burn first. Also, use tanning beds for awhile, and you look like an old hag by the time you're 30. Not worth it when the self-tan lotions look better than the tanning bed tans.

By using a gradual tan lotion, you are blocking some of the rays that the bed emits for you to get a tan. It is good to use if you are a person that burns easily. If you don't burn easily, you can use an accelerator and that will get you darker faster. There are many different types of accelerators and before you buy the bottle, you can buy the little 1 use samples to see which one works the best for you. Hopefully this answers your question. Good Luck!

Careful with tanning beds, girl... unless you WANT to look like a pair of cowboy boots in 30 years.

i go tanning all the time, and yah use tanning lotion cause if you dont, u wont get any tan wat so ever, and ull halfta keep going all tha time nd barly get any tan. and if you do get a lotion get an expensive kind lke the 40-60$ kinda cause cheap ones never work and you'll get a shitty tan or none at all. but yah umm i hope this advise helps.
