there are 2 types of eyelash curler- the standard and the electric eyelash curler. for the normal eyelash curler, heat it up by directing a hairdryer on it for 30secs and curl your eyelash, then apply the mascara and allow it to dry, give it another curl if you like, this time without heating the curler.
for the electric eyelash curler, it needs to be used with the mascara on your lash as it acts as a medium for the heat from the curler to curl your lashes. good luck~~~

I have always read "after" is the safe thing to do (because the mascara can cause your eyelashes to adhere to the curling pads and possibly pull out eyelashes), but in the real world, I like to put on the mascara first, just a light coat or two and then curl and finish up with the mascara. It's almost like a light layer of gel or something that helps hold the curl and the final layer sets it. I do clean my eye lash curler from time to time though, because the mascara will get clumpy and gross.

I know magazines always tell us not to curl your lashes with mascara already on them, but, like another girl who answered this question, I usually put a little mascara on my lashes before curling them. It just holds the curl better! Yes, it does gunk up the curler but that can be easily remedied with a tissue. Also, I let the mascara dry on my lashes before curling them so that they won't stick to the curler. So far, the curler has never pulled out any of my lashes...

I put my mascara on after I curl my eyelashes. I found that if I do it before I curl, my eyelashes would stick together and it also leaves residue on the curler. By curling my eyelashes before, I can see the mascara go on better and the lashes are separated. I would try it both ways and see what works better for you. Good Luck!!

After, because if you put the mascara on before, it will stick to the curler and the curler will get all gunky...plus you're more likely to pull lashes out if you put mascara on before. :p

You put it on after you use the curler or you could run the risk of breaking your eyelashes off. Plus, it gets mascara all over the curler.

it doesnt matter, it is better to use it first but if the curl goes out of your lashes while appling mascara, blast the hairdryer on the curler n curl them again.

After, when you curl your lashes it helps the mascara spread better.
