snowboard locks so no one steals you're board at the mountain - http://www.wiredsport.com/Catalog/search_results.asp?txtsearchParamTxt=&txtsearchParamCat=45&txtsearchParamType=ALL&iLevel=1&txtsearchParamMan=ALL&txtsearchParamVen=ALL&txtFromSearch=fromSearch

you can also buy foot and hand warmers at any ski resort (I think Wal Mart also has them), they are really useful on cold days. ($5)

You could do what everyone else says and get gloves (but chances are the boarder already has them) or you can be different and think of other things that might be useful. For instance, go to a ski shop or sports store and pick up a snowboard lock. This way the person can go into the lodge and get food or whatever and not have to worry about their expensive board being stolen. Another thing you might want to try is getting them some insulating layers. The first layer (closest to the body) is one of the most important parts of layering because you need something that does not hold moisture. The snowboarder might have this already, but even if they do, having more than one is always key especially if they ride a lot. You can pick it up for $30 or less at any ski shop, Sports Authority, mountain, etc. Makes a great gift and shows you put some thought into it.

You could get them a gift card to their favorite board shop. That way they can pick exactly what they want and they could put the gift card towards something bigger that they want. You could also get them an itunes gift card if they have an ipod because you always need some tunes to go riding with.

if they dont already have it, get em everything they need to wax their own board. an old iron ($5 or free if you have one you dont need), a scraper (10- 15 @ the local boardshop), and some all temp snowboard wax (10 a pack for the high end stuff, less for not so high end)

Good gloves, socks, small thing to keep extremeties warm such as those little heat packets that you can stick in your shoes to keep toes warm. Lifetime supply of medicated chapstick.
