There are several resons why this could be happening. One is that your body weight has dropped so low that your body could not support a baby, so it shut down the menstrual cycle.

In any case, go see your doctor to make sure there's nothing serious going on.

It could be a variety of things, so I suppose it could depend on your age or medications you are taking. This has happened to me a few times. When I was in my early teens and first hit puberty it was because I was so active in sports and I'm not sure exactly what happens, but it messed with all that stuff and caused me to go a few months without a period. A few years later I had gone 6 months without my period, I wasn't even having sex so I couldn't have been pregnant or anything, and it turned out that I had polycystic ovarian syndrome. To overcome that ordeal I went on birth control. Now if I go months without a period it's because of my birth control- my control over whether I skip it, or if I run out and stop taking the pills for a few weeks- it really messes stuff up. So I guess it depends on your age as well as other things- I would just see a doctor...

I agree with the others...you need to see a doctor. Stress can sometimes mess up your cycle for a month or so, but 5 months is a long time to not have a period. Hope everything is ok with you.

It could be any number of reasons. Stress like many have mentioned. It also can depend on your weight, theres PCOS, poly cystic ovary syndrome, I am by no means a doctor but you should mention this lack of menstruation to your doctor, if you don't have a regular doctor try to get into a clinic or something so that you can figure out what's up.
