I mean why do people take the time to look if? Are we all compelled tp open or follow every lead or thread? My grandmother used to have an old saying Curiosity Killed the Cat but Satisfaction Brought him back...I mean if you read that over and over again it really doesn't make any sense I am just curious (LOL)

i think it is a human reaction to fear what is unknown so to alleviate this fear, people make sure they know as much as they can even if it is of no consequence to them... that is curiosity

also along the lines of human fear of the unknown, the future is a big unknown and information is a valuable resource, so to overcome the big unknown that is the future, humans instinctually prepare themselves by gathering information that may not be needed in the near future but is feared will be crucial for the more distant future..... sure you aren't going to join the club, but what if you have to some time in the future, you don't know whether or not you will so you might as well take the time to check it out now when you can.... that is probably your thought process....

and with this prepared resource or gathered information, the fears of the unknown can be somewhat alleviated..... therein lies the "satisfaction that brought him back". as to the curiosity being deadly, that is just to shut up kids who ask too many questions...
