I have this overwhelming desire to chew the stuff off my cotton swab every morning! Will it hurt me?

I did it as a child. If you haven't tried it already, I can tell you now that it doesn't taste all that great.

As suspiscious as i am about the nature of this question, i'm gonna answer it as if you were serious.

Let's discuss the purpose of earwax... to capture dust and dirt that make it into your outer ear stopping them from getting to (and damaging) your inner ear. This stuff is made from secretions that collect bacteria, skin cells, airborne pollutants, dirty shower water, etc.
Ask yourself if you really want to ingest that stuff, which has been possibly fermenting for days. Today's qtip may be cleaning out ear wax that has been in your ear since last week because it didnt dislodge until now...
Perhaps some strong cheeses would be of consideration to add to your diet, instead of earwax... Looks and feels the same to me, but cheese is much more varied, cultured, and nutritional to ingest ^^

Also, I totally disagree with the person who said that eating your own poop wont hurt you... excrement and urine is the way in which the body releases toxins that it has absorbed in the air, in food and in the water we drink. There are chemicals that your body pumps into your food in your intestines (bile and other stuff) that give it the smell it has... you dont want to eat that stuff- its on its way out. The chemicals would damage your mouth and throat. Also, your poop doesnt always come out completely. There could be particles of feces that came out today that was from food you ate last week. Definetely not healthy :/

If you put it on a cold sore it gets rid of them. Also eating your own earwax, boogers, etc can be beneficial. The U.S. is actually one of the only countries in which drinking ones own urine is not common. In each product produced by humans is the dead bacteria that you are exposed to. By ingesting this you are essentially taking antibiotics every day. With the exception of urine which is sterile. I'm not sure how that one woks, something to do with the kidneys or something. However if you are exposed to someone with a cold or have had a significant other with the flu nibbling on your ear, breakout with the long pinky finger nail and feast away my friend.

Whatever floats your boat... you are probably eating lots of dirt, but hey, on the flip side, you're developing immunuty to most of the bad stuff that gets depositted in your ear... Try snacking once in a while, maybe that ear wax wouldn't be so appealing after a while... but you never know...

This is perfectly safe. Earwax is mearly a self-generated substance that is used to protect the ear from damage. As long as it's fresh, it'll cause no harm other than maybe a bad taste.

Ear wax is what traps the bad stuff that tries to get into your ear, so eating it could pose the possibility of getting sick.
