Will new cells that develop FROM the zygote result from mitosis or meiosis? It will of course be mitosis. When a cell divides it is growing and replicating - by mitotic division, the resultant cells all share the same genetic information as the original zygote. Meiosis produces gametes, and these gametes combine to form the zygote.

mitosis
All normal cell division and replication occurs by mitosis.
Only during gametogenesis (i.e. production of gametes for sexual reproduction e.g. spermatocyte and egg) does meiosis take place. Since a zygote is the initial union of a spermatocyte and an egg cell, gametogenesis is not possible.
