For years now I've been attempting to use tampons, but they've always been horribly uncomfortable and hurt so much that I can't leave them in. All the women/friends I asked about it said that I didn't insert it far enough, which was a good enough answer for me.

After having sex for the first time, I decided to try again, with much better results in the middle of my flow. However, the next time I tried, I felt the same discomfort as before. Since I'm not used to using a tampon, I started with "slim" and "light" styles, so it's definitely not that. Any ideas on what's up?

Be sure and use the kind with a plastic applicator. But even then if your flow is light or spotting it can be uncomfortable due to lack of lubrication.

When you insert them you need to insure they are far enough, if you can feel them then they aren't inserted far enough.

I've attatched the link to a VERY good article that covers all the different issues with tampons, pain, etc..

Worth the read!

There is a possibility that you are inserting it wrong.

You should not be able to feel a tampon unless it is inserted wrong.

They can be a little uncomfortable at first but it easy to get used to. I would check the insert in the box to make sure that you are inserting it properly.
