You can't solve it, bc it is not an equation. if 3x^2-12 = 0, then 3x^2 = 12... x^2 = 4.... x=2 or x= -2

To solve this move add 12, divide by 3, and take the sqrt:

3x^2=12
x^2=4
x=+2,-2

What do you mean by solve?
I can factor it, but to solve it there has to be an equal sign somewhere.
3x^2-12
3(x-2)(x+2)
if this should equal zero
3(x-2)(x+2)=0
x=2
x=-2 are the roots.

3(x^2-4)
=3(x+2)(x-2)
