What board games for the family do you suggest?

I want something that we can play with the kids (Kids are 11-18 ). Something educational in some way, as well. What do you suggest?

a good one is tribond where the players have to figure out the connection between three different words, or pictionary, taboo is a great one too it makes people think quickly and build a large vocabulary

Germans make awesome games. Carcassone is challenging and fun; it's a strategy game where you build your own game board. Settler's of Catan is very popular, though it's a long game like Risk. My new favourite is Bohnanza (Bohn is German for bean). It is a card game, and the pictures of the different beans, like the green bean (looking a little ill) and the soy bean (a cool hippie), are quite entertaining. My family has spent hours around each game. Here's some links about the game, as well as their English manufacturer. (though you'd probably get them cheaper on Amazon or Ebay)

I hear Apples to Apples is good. Theres a Jr. Version and the regular version...........sometimes at Target.

I think I heard that it was an award winning game.

Boulder Dash is a very fun thinking game. Apples to Apples is great too! Both are word games.

well, i dont know about educational, but apples to apples jr is fun for all ages and makes you think (more of a card game)

risk shows strategy,and its fun,espiacaly for older people 10-18 and it shows um strategy,also it gets your brain going
