There aren't any IMAX theaters near me :(

Also, does it cost more than a regular theater?

I consider a true IMAX experience watching the images in a circular, dome-like theater. When you walk in, the seats should seem like they scale up the wall and the screen should be 180 degrees, engulfing you and your peripheral vision. I live in NYC and the IMAX theater here is just a huge flat screen. People who have never experienced a dome-like theater don't know any better. If you want a true IMAX experience, find a theater that is dome-like.

It depends on the movie. Ordinary movies like Harry Potter just look big. Too Big. You can't see the whole picture and have to focus on little pieces of the screen at a time. Not worth it.
3D movies, where you need the glasses and are made just for IMAX, are really cool! It looks like the movie lifts out from the screen. The animals move close enough that the audience flinches back in their seats. Way worth the nearly double the price of a normal movie-but not often.

If You're going someplace where there is one,I'd recommend it..I've been to the Smithsonian Air and space Museum's theater in DC,the Aviation themed movies are amazing..up close to a space rocket launch was almost toe curling, and in the air with a hot air balloon was vertigo inducing...Have also been to the Grand Canyon and took in the IMAX there featuring a white water boat ride on the Colorado River..wow! Would love to see the one on the Titanic...prices are reasonable for the experience..

The I-MAX theater that I went to charges $20 to see a movie. It is worth every penny. The chairs are tipped back, so you are in a relaxed, semi-reclining position, and the sound is great. The screen image is so real that if you are viewing a roller coaster, you feel like you are on the roller coaster. Some people get sea sick or a little nauseous due to the reality of the experience. I would definitely recommend seeing a movie in an I-MAX theater - or giving it as a gift!

It is well worth checking out. We saw Harry Potter at the IMAX, and the London bus scene was awesome!!!
Where I live, Spokane Washington, the prices are inline with other theaters. Good Luck and try to catch an IMAX flick!

Friggin sweet! Imagine a 90ft plasma TV quality screen and no possible way for the person infront of you to be in your way. usually it costs the same, maybe a buck or so extra. if i had one closer to me id only go to them. and u cant go to a crappy imax theater, when built and registered with IMAX, they have important, nessacary guidelines on quality and every theater is built to its best, no cash short cuts when building! so its amazing.

tickets about 12 $ and if you wear glasses have estigatism or prizm you wont like it
it gets reaaaaaal blurry and it;s a pain to adjust the distance of ur glasses to be comfy to the screen, depends on where u sit, the middle is the best

It is stunning to hear and see but it costs about twice as much ($12 vs, $6.50 matinee)

It was awesome. I saw Deep Sea 3D (and a few others). My boyfriend leaned forward to ask the kids to be quite and it looked like a shark was going to eat him. I've never seen 3D like that before.
