The area of the paper which can wrap all the sides of the box should be atleast as large as the total surface area of the box, which is 2 * ( 20 * 8 + 20 * 2 + 8 * 2) = 432 sq. in.

Among the options, there seems to be none that big except B. And from the language of the question, as it does not look to be looking for a definite correctly sized answer, it seems to look for an approximate or a realistic answer, B should be right.

None of them is right. The box is to be fully covered means the paper should cover all four sides plus top plus bottom. That way, the paper dimensions shall be 2(l+h) and 2(b+h) i.e. 44" x 20".

If we assume a top open box or that top need not be covered, then answer will be C i.e. 24" x 12"

The total surface area of the rectangular box that you have to cover is of course 2(2*20+20*8+2*8)=432in. However this matches with none of the options. Are you sure you have taken down the options correctly?
