Neither. Christmas is about being kind to one another, not the opposite of what we do to each other the other 11 months of the year.

No, it is not his birthday. Jesus was not born on Dec 25th. Read the source link to learn the truth. Christmas has nothing to do with God or Santa, it is an ancient Roman Holiday.....
"Roman pagans first introduced the holiday of Saturnalia, a week long period of lawlessness celebrated between December 17-25. During this period, Roman courts were closed, and Roman law dictated that no one could be punished for damaging property or injuring people during the weeklong celebration. The festival began when Roman authorities chose “an enemy of the Roman people” to represent the “Lord of Misrule.” Each Roman community selected a victim whom they forced to indulge in food and other physical pleasures throughout the week. At the festival’s conclusion, December 25th, Roman authorities believed they were destroying the forces of darkness by brutally murdering this innocent man or woman.

Christmas season is about the birth of Jesus. Santa helps represent the "it is better to give than to receive" teachings. It's not about getting Christmas presents form Santa but about spreading joy on an important day.

Christmas is about the birth of Jesus Christ, who according to Christians, is the Son of God. People used to give gifts to symbolize the gifts of gold, frankicense, and myrrh that the Three Wise Men brought to Jesus. Those gifts started the basic tradition of a man bringing toys to children- first St. Nicholas of Patara, who then morphed into Santa Claus.

Christmas is about celebrating Gods son, Jesus' birthday! His birthday is supposedly in April, but we celebrate it early! St. Nicholas was a guy who gave out Christmas gifts to children, then parents started telling there children that Santa Clause (St. Nick) was going to bring them presents, long after he died! We celebrate Jesus' b-day by being with family, eating, and opening presents! Happy B-day Jesus!

Christ, Jesus was born on Christmas. (the exact date is unknown) but according to the early calendar, the virgin mary was told she was expecting on March 25th, that is the annunciation of the virgin mary. 9 months after that date (old calendar) is december 25th, so that is where that came from.

Santa is a name for Saint Nicholas, who is a saint of the church, who is remembered for his deeds during his life. We remember him as Santa.

"Jesus is the reason for the season"

Santa is the jolly fellow in red who is known to deliver the gifts.

It all goes back in church history, but the birth of Jesus is Christmas.

For me it's about Jesus, however, for most people it is about Santa and presents, eating and drinking ourselves into a stupor. I do not have children but if I did I would not let them believe in the Santa Clause lie. I think that it is wrong to teach children not to lie and then tell them a whopper like Santa Clause. If we don't want our children to lie then we should not lie to them.
