My husband has had heartburn since last night. He thinks it is from too much dairy. Does anyone know of any natural cures or remedies that do not involve dairy? He will not take any OTC meds...I do not blame him. Thanks!

He has never had heartburn before. He cannot take rolaids or tums because we DO NOT eat any sugar. Saltines are out, as we do not eat wheat. I heard that "neutralizing" the acid in the stomach is actually bad and simply perpetuates the problem...so I am weary of having him drink baking soda.

Your on the right track. Hearburn is actually your stomach swelling up from gas. It presses against the heart. This condition is a result of not having enough hydrocloric acid in the stomach to digest the food. This is just the beginning of more problems. Eating too much food, in one meal, makes it hard for the stomach to digest it. Another problem related to this is the bodies inability to assimulate protein properly. When protein is broken down into amino acids, the body uses these amino acids to make digestive fluids like the hyrochloric acid in the stomach. It's a vicious circle. No hydrochloric acid in the stomach, not amino acids, not production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach. You can buy supplements that boost the production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach. They come in capsule or pill form. Also check the intestines and colon for good health. When the stomach doesn't work well the rest of the tube has problems too.

it's possible to get stomache from too much milk but I don't think heartburn could happen that way. Sounds like your husband may have
become lactose intolerant. Some times that can be temporary and sometimes it becomes permanent. Try the herb Mullein, Valerian, or Jasemine, take in tea form before bedtime!
