Previously a proud peace keeping country, we are continuously becoming more and more an extension of the U.S. Why cannot we retain our moral and humanitarian principals and be a shining example to the world, of what western culture is all about, instead of becoming a mere shadow of the greed and corruption that exists beyond our borders. It's not what you have that makes a difference, it's what you do with what you have that counts.

As an American who is displeased with the way of things in my country as well...I sympathize with you.

Why would you say we lost our individuality as a country

I , personally am very happy to have America as our neighbor and as a friend .

You say greed and corruption beyond our borders .....what about our own home grown greed and corrupton ( 100 million dollar liberal scandal )

I do not always agree with what their government does but I also don't always agree with what our government does ....but we move along

We decided not to go to war in Iraq ....Isn't that an individual decision made by our country ?

We decided to go into Afghanistan ....Isn't that an individual decision made by our country ?

You say we have to retain our humanitarian principals .......isn't it being " humanitarian " by helping those in the world that need help......like the women and children living in Afghanistan

The problem with the world is that there are to many places that are like Afghanistan ....and we can't be everywhere to help out

You say that " its not what you have that makes a difference , but what you do with what you have that counts "......well we have a military that can help these people , although our military isn't that large because of cutbacks , plus we aren't a very large country population wise

If you saw someone in your town being attacked or maybe a woman being abused by her husband , wouldn't you do something about it or at least call the authorities.

It's our duty to help out where we can ......I do not agree with war and all the killing but sometimes there is no other way and it requires sacrifice by our brave soldiers to help those who can't help themselves .

If the shoe was on the other foot , would you not welcome a foreign force to liberate you?

That's good to know that the majority of Canadians are smart but I don't see how you can say your individuality has been compromised. It would be interesting to see where you get your facts from. There are still alot of Americans standing free of corruption. Your just jealous!

Because Canadians aren't prone to taking to the streets in protest. Canadians need to stand up for their beliefs and values. I guess we're too damn polite to look after our interests. Or maybe cowardly. Or maybe complacent.
