Amazing how little others seem to know about technology...

Laptop speed - just as it is for any computer - is determined by a variety of factors, including:

1. Processor (not just MHz - Dual Core, HyperThreading, Hyper Transport, Cache amount all have an effect so that one CPU with a 3 GHz rating may not perform as well as one with a 2.5 GHz Rating).
2. RAM - The amount of RAM helps you run multiple programs and/or resource intensive programs. Base memory for any computer running XP should be 512 MB in my opinion. For Vista, I'd go with at least 1 GB. Then, it depends on what you are running. In general, the more RAM the better - more RAM really won't slow you down, but the more you have the slower the performance boost gets (meaning, if you go from 512 MB to 1GB you might see a 50% boost - but going from 1 GB to 2GB might only see a 20% boost). And remember, this really depends on what you're doing with the computer as to how much a performance increase you'd see.
3. Hard disk speed. Faster RPM generally translates into faster performance but can also reduce battery life and generate more heat. SATA is faster than EIDE
4. Front side bus - this is how fast the components of the computer talk to each other.
5. Graphics Card - This can play a major role in Vista Aero performance as well how games perform
6. Network adapter/Wireless - Wired connections are ALMOST ALWAYS faster than wireless. But 802.11n is faster than 802.11 a or g and those are faster than 802.11a (often referred to as wireless A, B, G, or N.

All these things factor in to how fast the computer is and or performs.

All three RAM, Hard Drive, and CPU play major roles in overall performance, how much of a factor really depends on what you're doing with it. Video Editing? Definitely want a fast hard drive. Gaming... fast Graphics card and decent amount of RAM.

often once you communicate approximately speed of the laptop you're conversing bearing directly to the Processor speed. center 2 Duo 2.4 GHz 3.0 those kinds of issues. the subject with this, ordinary speed is consistent with distinctive issues. not basically the processor, yet additionally the RAM, front edge Bus (that's taking off to pass away) and so on. RAM is how briskly the help can pass for the duration of the RAM, front edge Bus is surely how briskly your Motherboard sends the alerts to different issues on the Buss (or on the motherboard). So maximum laptop makers (customarily Dell) properly sell you some 2.8 speed processor (that's rapid) yet then do medium speed RAM on a sluggish motherboard. So all 3 effect your speed.

The term superfast differs from person to person. Generally the processor will determine the "speed" of the laptop. For example 1.8 gigahertz will be faster than a 1.1 gigahertz machine. All other items such as memory speed and hard drive rpm being equal. The laptop you listed is in the middle of the pack. Many people prefer the M processor which it has because it uses less power which equates to longer battery life. 1.7 Gig speed is OK but there are "faster" ones out there but prepare to pay more. Please see source below it is a selection guide that may help you determine what type of notebook you are looking for. The site is good in that it will give you choices and actual street prices which I find very nice. You may find that speed isn't everything. Many people go with reliability, larger display, battery life and of course cost.

Your RAM and processor determines the speed of your computer. For a fairly speed computer, you should have the new Intel Core 2 Duo processor and a RAM of 512 MB or higher(preferably 1 GB). There are certain other factors, especially if you use the net, like:
1. Temporary Files : Surfing for 2 hours can pile up temporary files upto 10 MB in size. So, if you don't get rid of them, they will pummel down your computer's speed. Then, there are registry issues, of course.

2. Infections : Malware, especially spyware bring down the computer speed. Therefore, a good security consisting of an anti-virus, an anti-spyware and a firewall must be present.

3. Fragmented files take longer to open. You should defragment your hard drives at least once every 1-2 months.

4. Too many games eat away your resources.

Processor, RAM, and HD. Processor and RAM are closely tied. If you don't have enough RAM to accommodate your processor, you're limiting your computing power. If you can, get a 7200 RPM HD. With higher RPM's programs will load faster. If you picked up a laptop with at least a 1.6 Ghz Core 2 Duo, 1 GB DDR2, and a 7200 RPM HD you should be in good shape. If you want to go higher than that it will be a little better. You have to balance everything nicely. And these thing only apply for programs, not games. If you're getting into games then you need to look into graphics with dedicated memory of at least 256MB.

the speed of the laptop would be determined BY cpu speed, size of your ram, and rpm on your hard drive, its just a mixture of all.

neither it is the speed of the processor, next it is memory, next hard drive to be on the safe side the hard drive should be no less than 5400 rev slower makes the access slow loading windows and your files

with 1Gb on RAM its good. KINGSTON is the best i think.

the speed is affected by your PROCESSOR mainly.

the hard drive is not gonna do a big difference on your speed,

but WESTERN DIGITAL is a good brand.

go here http://www.newegg.com/ you'll find everything.

That notebook is ok, but you can find something better at good

prices.
