I thought liberals are for free speech? They shout down conservatives, if they are not throwing things at them.

It's unfortunate that many liberals are only concerned with THEIR free speech. Does anyone think it's sad that many universities have speech codes?? And everyone knows that the vast majority of academia is from the liberal camp. I have read many stories about how liberal students have rudely interrupted and even forced conservative speakers off stage. What makes it worse, is these libs usually don't shower or shave their pits before yelling and waving their stanky body parts around....

I'm beginning to think that the few regular Bush supporters in this country (or is it just YA?) meet for lunch once a week to think up lame questions about all the supposed things only liberals do. Now it's college kids lol? Have you ever set foot on a college campus during political rallies? Or been there when a speaker for one political party is scheduled and of course the other party's supporters show up to demonstrate? College kids are notorious for throwing themselves head (and sometimes body) first, without thought, at politicians that they hate for representing something they've made their latest cause. Part of being involved in college politics means high passion from all of that young energy - and a lot of them are still too immature not to act the fool, no matter what their political leanings.

And Ann Coulter? Please be serious, you mean that's the only time someone has thrown something at that harpy? I'm not a liberal or a conservative, but that woman is shrill and bitter enough to make paint peel. Yeesh, she's like nails on a chalkboard. She throws off such a vindictive bitter nasty aura that I turn the channel before I have to hear that nasal voice droning out her latest hate rhetoric for even one second.

The meant new tolerance and type of the Liberal Left isn't something more effective than "replacing the objective".... and in doing so as that they are, in reality, some distance extra bigoted, illiberal, mono-cultured, and sensors than the so noted as purple necks and 'neo-cons' that they rant adversarial to. the most deadly human beings contained in the international paintings those which have fanatical help for a concept gadget to the point that they no longer in problem-free words do not hearken to different factors of view, yet actively and violently suppress them. the unhappy element is they could be able to't even help their own beliefs with reasoned idea. The Islamofascist that David replaced into speaking about are accurate examples, as were the scholars "protesting"... they're an same wolf in numerous clothing.

On the whole, I think you will find that conservatives are far less likely to be open minded and willing to listen than a liberal.

This is from personal experience, and from observation.

As an example most recent Republican events involving the current administration exclude people based on a screening process.

This is unheard of in American history, at least at this scale.

Liberals or those wearing shirts considered 'liberal' have been escorted out of events, or prevented from entering.

Again - unheard of, and a violation of the Constitution.

That some liberal leaning individuals have begun adopting tactics similar to the conservatives is unfortunate, but not particularly surprising.

In our increasingly vitriolic political climate (begun by Newt Gingrich and his use of vicious campaign strategies) discussion has deteriorated into debate, debate into argument, and now, after six years of the Bush administration, basically two sides screaming at one another.

And don't forget that Bush campaigned as a 'Uniter, not a Divider' then spent the next six years ignoring the Democrats...

Until the commission reported stating his policies were a comlete failure...

There are more instances where this has happened but the sad thing about it all is that those who do not agree with what they say you become a bigot or hate monger.
Passion for a cause is great but not to the point where harm is or can be caused to those who disagree with you.

Liberals need to stifle free speech and the dissemination of facts in order to push their political agendas. They spread misinformation and quash attempts of individuals to inform the masses so they can make "informed" decisions.

Liberals require that people be uninformed in order for them to thrive. Very sad when you think about it. Almost pitiful.

Remember when they tried to beat a cop to death at the supposedly peacefull march against Bush? That man had a family and was trying to keep order to the parade when a gang of liberals overpowered him. There wasn't another cop for thousands of feet, by the time they got there he needed to be hospitalized. They are cowards and will not fight for this country only against it when they are sure the numbers are on their side.

What kind of college functions? I work on a university campus, and I don't see liberals shouting anybody down at any of our functions.

Perhaps you're talking about political science classes? Discussion is the nature of the beast, and sometimes discussions get heated. Don't act like conservatives don't do the same thing. Oh wait, I guess it's okay for conservatives to do it because they don't believe in free speech, right?

Because Political Correctness is an attempt to intimidate the opposition from voicing an opinion. When the intimidation doesn't work, more direct methods are employed.

If you have to keep the other side from explaining their position, you can't be to confident of your own.
