For the last few months my gout has been getting out of control..I'm worried about losing my job due to the fact i can't walk while having a bad gout flare up..I would love to hear from other people or their spouses that know something about this..

It may be possible to recieve SSI while your gout is out of control and is preventing you from doing your job and personal activities,

Here is the site for social security. There are places to look at that tells about if you qualify or not.
ALso talk with your doctor, if he or she sees that it is causing enough problems. A letter from them with the application for SSI could be enough to qualify it for you.

Gout is a condition where uric acid crystals build up in the body.
This can happen in the area of the big toe and cause a lot of pain.
Our foods contain purines; some foods are higher in this than others.
The doctor may place you on a lower purine diet (of which they will usually provide you a list of foods to avoid. There is also medications that can lower the uric acid in the blood

There is a money earning limit but yes you can. Contact a social security attorney and ask if you dont feel comfortable contacting the Social security office with this question.

Possibly finding another doctor would be advisable. This is a treatable condition.
