A guy gets in a car, drives over the border, goes to kroger and gets a job. I am the one who has to show SS#. I don't define Illegal loosely. If you have a work permit, visa, or trying to achieve citizenship, you aren't Illegal. But I feel that as the only person in the room that doesn't have a foriegn accent, I shouldn't be the ONLY one who has to present documentation of any sort.

Just because they do not have visas and are not seeking citizenship does not constitute illegal status. Are you aware of their resident alien status. Perhaps they have a work permit or are a permanent resident. In order not to discriminate an employer must ask everyone for the proper documentation as required on form I-9. If you think theres a problem then I would suggest contacting your local homeland security office and letting them handle it

Medicaid program in florida is now requiring us citizens to prove that they were born in the USA in order to qualify for medicaid, however, illegals can get help with medical bills more than a citizen who has no minor children. This means more credit is messed up for a citizen because of being unable to pay medical expenses.
tell me what is fair.

Illegal immigration is a major problem facing America today. Currently about 9 million illegal aliens reside and/or work in America (www.commondreams.org). Of those 9 million 70% are from Mexico. What is the problem here? Who is responsible for this failure in law enforcement? And more importantly, why doesn’t the American government crack down on the issue?

Here’s why: it’s profitable to allow their migrant workers into the U.S. and why not? It’s not surprising to learn that money is the culprit behind this problem. America is constantly concerned about financial gain and leading the race for economic growth and stability. For this reason, illegal aliens have been targeted to provide cheap labor for multi-million dollar companies. Labor costs generally account for about two-thirds of a business’s costs, so it makes complete sense that cutting company’s expenditures is a top priority. Illegal immigrants have become a great way to fill positions that Americans would not take due to minimal education requirements along with a minimum pay wage. Unfortunately, Illegal aliens have become the perfect solution to the nation’s economy.

America has become dependent on the illegal labor. Although most companies do not hire illegal immigrants, they all can benefit indirectly. Illegal labor forces the pay scale down because they work for less than minimum wage. This pressure to drive down wages helps all neighboring companies to pay at a lower scale. As Nathan Tabor, a conservative American activist views it, “There are now over 10 MILLION illegal aliens in the U.S. Remove them, and opportunities will abound for authentic Americans. We won't need to raise the minimum wage; it will raise itself. We can reverse the trend by simply enforcing our current immigration laws.” American government and its economy seem to adore illegal labor, which brings us to our next question: Why don’t we do something about this problem?

As Americans that lose our jobs to illegal immigrants who will work for less, shouldn’t we care about this problem? But according to George Weissin, a prominent author on the subject, “ we are not even close to solving the problem because so many don't even realize that a problem exists.” Many American citizens are not aware of the affects of illegal immigration has on our economy, and therefore no one has taken significant action.

According to commondreams.org, fewer than 2,000 people patrol the Canadian and Mexican borders combined. The lengths of these borders total around 5,300 miles. This leaves a great deal of land open for crossing without proper government surveillance. The lack of strict regulations and appropriate enforcement is driven by the economic benefit that these illegal immigrants provide. The American government is indirectly condoning immigrants who cross the border illegally.

As you can well see, action needs to take effect in order for change to come about. The most obvious answer here would be more government responsibility and protection. Legal immigration should be easier for people from other countries so that they can have citizen’s rights and not be taken for granted. As one anonymous immigrant commented, “We are not treated as equals here. We don’t get paid as much as we should and do not receive the same benefits. They make us work more than the rest but do not pay us as much as we are worth.” If the current immigration process were easier, less people would feel pressure to cross the border without proper legalization. Once they are properly legalized, they will have most of the citizen’s rights that we enjoy, and therefore will be less susceptible to greedy business scams. In addition, there should be more American appointed patrolling along the Canadian and Mexican borders. This will ensure less pressure and temptation to cross the borders illegally.

If this plan is successful, the pay scale will be forced to rise. No longer will people be subjected to harsh labor conditions and less than minimum wages. More immigrants will have citizens rights they deserve enabling them to be active and productive members of our society. We need to stop funneling money into the massive wallets of giant corporations and start putting more into our own pockets.
