the problem is usually with the sending unit located in the fuel tank. it is pretty easy to pinpoint. all you will need is a 12 volt test light, and someone to help you . first find the wires going in to the tank, there should be about 4 or 5, have your helper turn on the ignition only (do not start engine) and watch the gas guage, ground the wire from your test light, poke the wires one at a time, when you hit the one that goes to the sending unit the guage will rise up to the "f" mark, this will tell you that the sending unit is bad. some vehicles have an access cover , usually in the trunk or under the rear seat. if no access was provided by the manufacturer, you will have to remove the fuel tank to replace it. good luck
