Do you think the media has an effect on what you wear, how you act, what you buy, eat, drink etc.? Basically, does the media (i.e. Radio, TV, Magazines, Internet etc.) have a role in shaping who you are as an individual?

not realy so much on me, I chose what to wear mostly on the Bible and its standard of modestisty. i use the internet but do not listen to the radieo, read magazines (other than a bike one every now and then) or wach much tv. as for how I act, that is mostly based on the Bible too. food and drinks though are more personal tastes, but I will NOT drink any bear or wine.

I don't think that media has very much role in me.

i find out music from friends. and if i like something i just get the CD. most of the stuff i like is actually from my mom's collection. not the newer stuff...

i don't read magazines often cuz i'm a MAJOR pack rat. i try not to add to the pile.... quizzes are my weakness though.

i don't watch tv. 2 hrs a week tops

Internet is probably the worst. if i see a good add that's well put together then i'll look into it. but otherwise I HATE ads. those stupid "get this question right and you win" things. i got annoyed at one so i clicked it. i know for a fact i didn't do the right answer and it's like "you win"!

I don't care if my clothes are brand name.

i act how i want. i have had people look at me like i'm crazy cuz i do something "uncool"
i eat and drink what i like, when i want to.... no matter what others tell me about the product...and yes i'm not afraid to by a single timbit/bakersbit etc.

religion doesn't affect me either... once i am 18 i plan on becoming a satanist. though it has many rude and unrealistic stories. it really is just believing in nothing after death and that control your life. not killing animals...that's actually against everything!!!

i have seen my friends pull a "confessions of a shopaholic" stunt... listing of where they got an item, how much, and how long ago. i think it's stupid

No not really on me because no matter how hard I could try I could never be one of those models and I don't really want to either. I think I look good with the way I dress and I enjoy the foods and drinks I have. None of that is even close to what the media wants us to think and act. Besides the media is so full of balogna that I try to stay away from it cause it is so irritating. Yet it does seem to have a pretty big impact on some girls because they don't think they are pretty because they are judging looks on fake models and they think they are fat basing again on models yet they are maybe 110 lbs. That is some girls I'm talking about that I have seen around school before not all. Then how they eat some are anerexix cause they base their weight on the media. It is really sad to me.

I think it does. I would like to look like all the girls in the magazines but i don't have that kind of money. I used to buy those clothes all the time till i had to start paying for them mydelf. Now I feel that i would rather spend 15 dollars on jeans then on a t-shirt that I am only going to be able to wear when it's warm.

im 18 years old and the media has a huge effect on what i wear. everyone wants to be cool and accepted. deep down we do care what other people think. it shapes who we are and lets us know whats hot and whats not.

i think it has a HUGE part in the way teens are. i mean in the 50's girls werent wearing belly shirts and shirts that dont cover their boobs, and boys werent all totally sexed craved all the time--i know that thats a part of bein a teenage boy, but i mean society, especially media has changed drastically. it definitely has a role in the way i am and the way other teens are.

yes definitely. the media influences me greatly. i would never think about wearing certain clothes until i see it advertised. everyone says they're trying to do their own thing, but they dont realize that they are getting all their influences from media. media tells us what's hot and what's not.
