What is the most pointless tax we spend money on?

Recently in Ohio there was a nex 30 cent tax on cigarettes passed, and the money goes to the arts. I think that's pretty pointless . If you're gonna make me pay more for cigarettes at least use the money for cancer research or something.

Of that, $159 billion was for net interest, $486 billion for defense, $492 billion for Social Security, $473 billion for Medicare and Medicaid, $191 billion for various welfare programs, $136 billion for "retirement and disability" benefits, and $64 billion was projected to be spent elsewhere.

I'm fighting the urge to say all of them (cause we do need taxes to run the country).

I'll say the death tax. Uncle Joe dies, leaves you something to help the finances and the gov't takes a portion? That is rather messed up.

there's gonna be a new law here in Australia where if you get caught smoking in the car with children under the age of 11, then its a fine. not sure how much i think it would be $50. sounds silly doesn't it? another money maker
