I heard it's better if you're sitting in a warm tub of water.

I am 30 weeks, I plan to have my child in our small country hospital. (I cant have a c section at this hospital) This is my 4th and I havent had drugs with the other 3, just the gas. But I am hoping to be able to use the shower for pain relief. I would like to have my Dr present, my last child got stuck (theres really not enough room for the head and arms to come out at the same time) But just to catch the baby as she comes out. I really dont want any interference, and I want to spend plenty of time alone (with my husband) with baby after birth.

To be honest the only reason I am having this baby in the hospital is because my second child wasnt breathing and my third was a little difficult to delivery on my own.

I have how ever just been told that my baby is big, she is 4lbs already at 30 weeks. So if she keeps growing like this (dr thinks 11+lbs at birth) I will be asking for an induction a couple weeks early (if safe, but i want it to happen naturally). I dont want to risk the baby and defiantly dont want a C section. Hope this relates to what you want too know, I wasnt too sure on what you exactly ment by unassisted. So this is my interpretation.

What do you mean by unassisted? If you have a home birth definitly have a midwife with you in case something goes wrong. I had two medication/complication free births with my children at the hospital. Next time around I think I will plan to do a home birth as I didn't like the nurses. Good luck.
Well, the website certainly clarifys things. I'm assuming you've never given birth before, you poor thing. It is anything but orgasmic, but extremely painful. The pain can be managed, but you will not feel extreme pleasure as this article suggests. Contractions hurt, and pushing the baby out hurts. They don't call crowning the ring of fire for nothing. I am not trying to be negative, just honest. After two drug free labors I think I know what I'm talking about, and by the sounds of it you will too soon enough.

I think home birth and natural birth are wonderful. But please, consider having a midwife present. I have never had an unassisted birth, but I have had 6 children. You really need that support.

i know a girl who tried to do it this way. she didn't know the baby was turned around facing out instead, and she was in labor for 3 whole days at home, until she was in one continuous contraction. she finally went to the hospital where they discovered he was facing the wrong way. they were able to turn him the right way and when he was born his sugar was so low (from her not being able to eat during labor) and she was too exhausted to breastfeed him, so they started giving him sugarwater, elevating his sugar too far, then they had to test his sugar every 20 minutes i believe she said. i would have a midwife there if i were you, that way the comforts of home are there, but someone with background is there when you need them. you could have one there and just tell them you only want them for support and the "just incase" scenario. that way you can deliver on your own but have the midwive's knowledge and experience waiting if you need it.

i think its a great idea. i wouldn't do it because my last 2 children had complications during birth. my daughter had her cord wrapped around her neck and shoulders she had also swallowed fluid during birth. my son was trying to come out wrong and had to be repositioned and still he tore me and his cord was wrapped around his neck too. i had no drugs wasn't induced for any of my kids.
