There are literally thousands of universities that offer a history major. There are also thousands of universities that offer an American Studies major.

Here's how you begin to research schools:

Go to
http://www.collegeboard.com and use their college matchmaker search function. Select the qualities you're looking for in a college (location, size, selectivity, etc.).

All sorts of people will tell you that college admissions is about the "total package" the student offers, but I can promise you that your SAT score will tell you which colleges you'll get into, and which you won't.

If you score extremely well on your SATs, I'd suggest an elite (highly selective) liberal arts college. Historians with national reputations teach at these schools, and they will help you tremendously when it's time to consider grad schools.

Best wishes to you!

maximum undergraduate classes for history are only that, history, frequently its not certain except you're going for Graduate, some have concentrations, yet not all. yet average Hunter is a good college and that i'm confident there history branch is as a lot as par.

I would think any university has a history department. That department is staffed by History majors who got their degree. So pick a school and try it.
