If you are worried, the very best thing for you to do is eat as you normally would eat to maintain your pre-pregnancy weight. Eat healthy too. Breastfeeding is quite demanding so if you don't over eat to "compensate" for the breastfeeding, you should loose the weight in a healthier way.
Stay active too - that was my downfall :(

Pre-pregnancy I was under weight 104lbs and 5'5"...When I gave birth I was 154 with preeclampsia...delivering a month early. My son is 5 and a half months old and I'm back down to 115lbs. I breastfed still and hope I dont lose anymore weight...infact I want to gain 10lbs back! As far as losing the pregnancy weight I lost 25lbs in 2 days after birth because of the water I was retaining from preeclampsia....I lost the rest over another 2 weeks. And have lost and gained a lb here and there since birth
My answer is YES you lose more weight when you breatfeed.

With my first all my weight came off(but i breast feed for 2 years) i only weight 5 more pounds than i was when i was not pregnant. I was 125 before then after i was 130. With my second i didn't lose all of it b/c i only breast feed for 6 months. I still have 15 pounds i have to lose, but i think if i would have keeped on breast feeding i would have lost all of it again.

Breastfeeding helped me get to my 'ideal' weight after both of my pregnancies. In the first pregnancy, I gained 50-55 lbs. It took a year of just breastfeeding and no exercise...but let me tell you that it took years of watching what I ate and exercise before that and I could never quite reach that 'ideal' weight. In the second pregnancy, I gained about 30 lbs and got back to my ideal weight in about 6-7 months. Again, no exercise and eating whatever I wanted. It really worked for me, but not as fast as other women claim.

I breastfeed for three months, and it didn't really help me lose any weight at all. I was still pretty hungry, similar to when I was pregnant. My son is now 4 mths old, and I still have quite a lot of weight to lose, but it's easier now, because I don't have to be quite so careful about what I eat, like I did when I was nursing. Most women lose a lot of weight following the birth of their child anyway, it's just the little extra fat stores that seem to hang on for some women (like me :-)

It worked for me! During my pregnancy i gained 50 pounds. In the first 2 weeks after i had my son i lost 30 pounds! After that i had trouble breastfeeding him, and so i had to put him on formula. Now that he's a month old, i've only lost 7 more pounds.

I noticed a huge weight loss of about 7 pounds when my daughter turned 4 months. I was back to my prepregnancy weight within 6 weeks of giving birth.

I breastfed for about 3 weeks, then it just became to much for me to handle with the lack of sleep.
I lost all the baby weight within about 1-2 months, but I have the belly still. Sit-ups arent helping with that dang belly!
