That's really hard to argue. On one hand, commercial music is doing everything the ear wants to hear, making it perfectly enojoyable for us. But on the other hand, there's no originality to it any more because it's become a science. It just follows the rules. True "art" tends to breaks rules and write its own new ones. It may not be as smooth and gentle to our ears, but "non-pop" music shows a true, original talent if it can still be pleasing.

It is true, commercial music does have less integrity, although that does not mean it is not good. I for one, love the music of, say, Green Day (Extremely Commercial) while on the other hand, I alos love bands like Fugazi.

There is alot of commercial music that has great lyrics. You'd be suprised but some of Christina Aguilera's songs have great lyrics. And then there are other bands and artists.....
like hip-hop isnt all about Snappin yo fingaz....even though its fun 2 move to and blast but their are artists like Talib Kweli who is an amazing lyricist

i would like to say that it has more integrity because of how it can stick in your head and drive you crazy for hours. is it not true you can still remember a dumb jingle but you cant remember the words to that song you loved a week ago? cute question
