First you have to define goodness. Goodness is in the eye of the beholder. "Goodness" is defined differently depending on, for example, if you're a religious muslim, or an atheist American. "Goodness" is different to the religious heartland. Goodness will always win... just depends on which goodness you mean.

Goodness is a relative term, as some before have stated.
So the answer is no, if we're looking at the big picture, goodness will always be defeated because not everyone will perceive goodness as the same thing.
Or, go with a good answer, and say that some germanic pagan religions believed that evil would overcome in the end, not goodness.

Well, if history is correct, we have been around for about 2 million years, and evil has tried all that time to defeat goodness. And goodness is still here. The problem is that goodness is NOT news. Evil is, so you get the impression that evil is everywhere because of the news.
It is not.
