White blood cells are made in 'flat' bones...the skull, scapula, pelvis for example....red blood cells are made in 'round' bones... the femur, ulna, radius are examples.

According to my A&P Textbook, and other web sites, blood cells are only produced in the bone marrow

HIV kills certain types of white blood cells (T cells). Leukemia kills white blood cells sometimes. Mono can kill a type of white blood cell (B cells).
