I would like to invest in and develop real estate, however I have no start up capital. Should I major in finance or engineering ( lucrative fields to get start up capital) Or should I major in Real Estate to actually learn the most important aspects and insider knowledge of the field. So what would be better Money or Learning the business from the ground up?

P.S. I want to buy properties and be a landlord to RENT units. I don't want to be a realtor who brokers sales for comissions. I don't intend to buy and FLIP houses either.

you do need to take some business classes as well-- unless you want to work for someone who takes care of that aspect for you.

i would suggest meeting with a career counselor at your local college. they can help you break things down more. you can minor in several areas and minor in one. that might be something to look into.

yes, you have to go to a separate "school" or sorts to get your real estate license, etc. you could get an associates degree in business & then get your real estate license. i believe that would take you about 4 years. 2 years for each (but don't hold me to that estimate! it has been a while since i looked into real estate schooling)

by the way, Frankenst... B has no idea what he/she is talking about! people go into real estate because they love houses, finance, etc! not knowing what else to do is completely WRONG!

Many colleges don't offer Real Estate majors... however the real estate aspects are usually taught in the finance majors. I think your best bet is to major in Finance, and make sure you take any classes you can relating to real estate. At my school there are several real estate courses that will satisfy credits for the finance sequence. I also wanted to go into real estate, but I majored in entrepreneurship because I wanted to start my own property management company. I have since changed my major. Go with finance!

accounting. it's the language of business! i have an MBA and I can tell you it is the area most people in busniness try to bluff and play tricks. if you understand it, you can do anything. get an accounting degree, work for a REIT, and work your way up then bam...you are in real estate. accounting is very anal so don't be put off by all the neat freaks that get into it...everything has to be in its proper place!

Sounds well. if Miz and Morrison unfastened the titles, might be they are going to attempt to pull an Evolution.. shall we see, Edge would be WHC, Major Bros would be Tag, if the womens divison was once go branded Vickie would SOMEHOW win with the support of them, then in the event that they introduced again the crusiorweight department get anybody like noble or someone, and feature them win it. Pretty cool in case you question me.

people who go into real estate just decided that would be their career overnight. they never really planned on doing it as something they love. they are just like "well i don't know what else to do...i may as well go into real estate!! why not?"

THAT is exactly what you are saying aswell.

DO NOT GO INTO REAL ESTATE!! i am telling you now!! This information you will value for the rest of your life. seriously, real estate is for people who don't know what else to do with their lives. they think they will be sucessful and happy, but guess what -- you won't be. You will have all the education background, because you thought that you wanted it and then WHAM!!!!!!! SORRY, YOU'RE UNSUCESSFUL!!!!!!!!!

im telling you, its gonna happen to you, just stop it before it becomes the major problem that it will be.

well still prospective landlord, seriously listen to me. ANYONE who does ANYTHING in the real estate business, like seriously if they even have so much as to do with ANYTHING. like this blanket covers EVERY single aspect of realestate -- anyone who went into real estate, just decdied that because they didnt know what else to do. honestly, like they went to college for something else, but couldnt keep up with the work so they say "oh well there always is real estate" so they drop out of whatever they are doing and go into real estate. THAT is how people get into real estate, becuase they either don't know what else to do so they just decide to do it, or because they can't keep up with what they are going for so they just drop out and go into real estate.

Go with your instinct...do something that you would want a career in and obviously something you enjoy doing. Or else it would be sufficient amount of money and time going to college to work hard and major in something that makes you miserable. Take those Career test that tell you what you would be better in and what you would enjoy more.

I'd go for a business degree, leading to an MBA.
