Depends entirely on how you count your engagements. As an example, Operation Torch was an amphibious assault in two countries simultaneously with the object of meeting up with Monty's "Desert Rats" coming across from the other side of North Africa to meet in yet another country and eject the Germans and Italians from North Africa. Do you call the whole thing "the North African Campaign," do you separate the action in/from the west vs. Monty's campaign from Egypt? Do you count individual major battles, such as the embarrassing American blooding at Kasserine? And of course each major battle is both a series of and interspersed with minor skirmishes.
