A young female came into my job today for an interview and I couldn't help but notice (since she was wearing a low-cut shirt)that she had a significant amount of curly, thick hair on her chest. I as, a female, have never seen this before. How about anyone else? Could this be a possible disease?

Unfortunately, my boss said she wouldn't hire just because she was able to see the hair on her chest. That was just totally wrong in my opinion...because like it has been mentioned...she could have a horomonal imbalance.

Was it black hair? OMG I never have seen women with hairy chests.

I've seen a woman with facial hair though. It was very sparse and looked like baby hair.

Yep, also saw a beautiful young girl with a large amount of dark facial hair. Could be hormonal, hereditary or a number of things such as chemical imbalances or genetic problems such as hirtsuism. Just don't stare, this can not be helped in some women and I am certain they are very self conscious.

It's relatively common.

It's caused by high levels of "free" testosterone coupled with early foetal exposure to testosterone.

Women with ring fingers longer than index fingers have been exposed to high levels of testosterone very early in their foetal existence and that sensitises their bodies to respond to testosterone later in the same way as males do.

If in later life their bodies produce high levels of testosterone
or
low levels of shbg which normally binds most of the testosterone females produce
or
low levels of estrogen which counteracts testosterone

these women can develop hair growth partterns similar to those of males.

You might also expect to see other signs of masculinisation -- smaller-than-average breasts, deeper-than-average voice and very often moustache and beard growth to a greater or lesser extent, though almost all would remove that. Many women have sufficient moustache growth and some of them beard growth to require daily shaving.

The chest is one of the first areas to show hair growth in response to testosterone stimulation after armpits, pubis legs and moustache.

maybe she is taking horomones for some sort of medical condition or to change from a woman to man or maybe was a man changing into a woman--you never know these days.

i like slightly of chest hair - it is so manly! you could have a very good physique, however. include who you're. i'm specific if a woman likes you for who you're it won't worry her.
