Not sure about those, but my friend had the same problem, and they had to use surgical steel earrings.

I know when I was a little girl (I'm 30 now), I had the same problem. Titanium and Palladium weren't options for me, so I don't know about those. I do know to avoid nickle. A lot of people who don't have trouble with other metals have nickle allergies. But you've gotten plenty of answers about the metals. One other option I remember, which might not work for her Christmas present, but for future reference, is nylon! I had several cute little plastic earrings (you know, little girl hearts, etc), and the posts were nylon. The posts looked like plastic, and they were firm, but flexible. The flexibility was a bonus, because as a child plays, they tend to get earring posts smashed into their head. It still happens to me!

I was 10 when I had my ears pierced (32 now), my ears are still sensitive to any cheapie earrings. 14k gold is the only thing I can wear in my ears without them getting irritated. I'm sure that she will love this as a gift. Happy Holidays!

I was like this but that was many years ago and I have since outgrown this problem. Back then we used 14K gold. I would ask where you are going to get the ears pierced, they will know for sure. If you can't get a good answer from them, call your pediatrician.

nickel is for sensitive ears, and inexpensive. you can never go wrong with gold, and white gold is always great if she likes a silver look. titanium would be okay for her too, but it tends to corrode easily, at least in my experience. it's what piercers pierce with just incase the person is allergic like your daughter. surgical steel is fine. but gold will last! if you're buying her classic earrings, like posts, then stick with gold if she'll have them for awhile!

hope she loves them! that's the age i got my ears pierced. it's a good age because your daughter has decided on it. i know some parents pierce their baby's ears. just make sure they aren't pierced too low! i got mine done too low and they have a ripping appearance, as if my earrings were too heavy.

I would say that she should stick with the surgical steel posts that they usually use to pierce the ear with as they would be least likely to cause infection.

try earing that are nickel free. my little sister is allergic to any earing or jewelry that isn't nickel free. but as long as it nickel free she can wear it. or sensitive solutions from clairs thats alright. but yeah if you really want to be on the safe side go with 14k gold.

10 is too young, her ears are still developing. If you must, go to your doctor to have it done. Think of this, if you have it done at a mall, where do they go to wash their hands before they pierce your daughter? Oh wait, they don't even have sinks!

14K gold or platinum. Platinum is best for people who are allergic to various metals.
