Many years ago there was a man called saint nicholas and i think he was from some foriegn country (i'm in uk), anyway he apparently used to give out gifts to the poor children.
this is where father christmas came from.
If you believe he is real then he is.
There are different time zones in the world and not everyone celebrates christmas so in theory with a bit of magic he could get round to deliver presents to all the boys and girls.
I like that idea that he exsists.

Yes, in a sense. Pere Noel, Father Christmas, Kris Kringle, Santa Claus, these are all names for the same person. Based on St. Nicholas, who was a real saint and reputed to be a very generous person, but the spirit of what Santa represents is in us all. When we give to each other at this time of year, we are commemorating the gifts of the Magi or Three Wise men, the three kings of the Orient who brought gifts to the Christ Child. We play Santa for each other and keep the spirit of giving alive, so yes, in a sense, Santa is real, as long as the feeling and spirit of giving is real.

A little girl named Virginia O'Hanlon asked that very same question in 1897. You can find her letter to the editor of the New York Sun, and his response, at the following website:

In the words of Dr. Merryweather (Jon Pertwee) to Santa (James Coco) in 'The Curious Case of Santa Claus': We may not always believe in you, but we all believe in you for a time.

Whether he does or does not, is for me, not the real issue!
For me the idea is whether to believe or not... I choose to believe, because it makes me happy to think that somewhere out there (yeah, I know there is a song in this somewhere) there is a chubby, cheerful old guy, who can make magic - if only once a year. One who, in a world where nobody cares about their neighbours any more and one in which there are so many sad, lonely and unhappy people, puts a little smile on everyones face, if only once a year. So, yeah, I am one of those people, who refuse to let the kid die in me...and encourage the kid, in my nephews, nieces and god children..I've got to hold on to something and this one is just as good as any other. I choose to believe!!!

Santa exists in our hearts and imaginations.
You can't have Christmas without Santa.
