Of course, you won't report a dollar or 20 if you find it in the street.
How about $50, $100, $1,000+.
Suppose it's all wrapped with a rubber band.

I would turn in a twenty without thinking twice. Lost money found isn't necessarily the property of the finder. I would feel very uncomfortable thinking that someone may have lost the last money in his pocket or her purse. I wouldn't be able to keep it. I might even turn in a ten. If I found a five and some ones wrapped up as you indicated, I would turn them in also. But, I think I might keep anything from five down.

Think of it this way - what if it was your mother, and she was on her way to the bank to pay the mortgage, and she accidentally lost the money? Do what you would hope the person who found your mother's money would do.

I wouldn't go to the police. I would place an ad in the local paper, saying that a "package" of significant value had been found, and ask that whoever tries to claim it be able to identify it exactly as you found it. If no one answers the ad successfully after say, two weeks? Well, then, I would say you are entitled to keep it. You might also check the "Lost" section of your newspaper's classified section, in case the person who lost it has posted a notice.

I think it depends how it is found. If it is in a wallet, I would report anything if i couldn't return it personally. If it were loose, I would probably report nothing.

In a rubber band, I would consider like a wallet.

Well, I think that if you put a lost and found add in the paper you'd get alot of responses. If no one is claiming that they lost money, hang on until someone does.

A truly HONEST PERSON would turn any amount in. So dig up that penny and hand it over to the cops!
